2011 Open Day.
This was a very successful day. Three or four layouts were up and being worked on or running. The Chessie Team made rapid progress assembling baseboards and sets of legs. Approximately 40-50 people attended and a number of youngsters enjoyed driving the Club's Underground Ernie™ layout.
Demonstrations of modelling techniques also took place. Skills on display included building rolling stock in a variety of media, etched brass coach construction and locomotive building. Visitors were able to ask questions or observe work in progress in an environment more conducive to interaction than an exhibition. People said that they had gained ideas and tips to help them in various aspects of their own railway modelling projects.
We had new visitors as well as old friends, many of whom intend to come to our Exhibition in October.
