There will be stalls on the platforms, SMTF Models of Poynton will be there. HGDMRS are showing three layouts, in the Conference Room on platforms 3 & 4. The day is in aid of the charity "When you wish upon a Star" and also celebrating HGDMRS' 50th Anniversary. Previous Open Days have featured one or more guest locomotives, but there is no information about this just now. Other stalls and stands are planned.

We are a broad based and highly active group of more than 60 members based in Hazel Grove, Stockport. All ranges of ability and experience are represented and new members at all stages of development are welcomed. Members are very willing to share their knowledge and experience.
We have built a "railway safety layout" commissioned by Northern Rail. It can be viewed on YouTube.
There are several projects in various stages of completion in various scale/gauge combinations. These range from 3.5mm/foot North American through to 7mm/foot freelance UK Steam Era via O-16.5. Other interests, such as 'buses, fire appliances and police service vehicles also feature.
There is an extensive book collection for Members to use as a resource.
"First Friday" teach-ins
Our programme of monthly teaching sessions (many with hands-on opportunities) is a fantastic opportunity to get training, insight and experience of a variety of railway modelling skills from skilled modellers. Please note that the sessions are for members only but you can always join us and get immediate access to this great way of increasing your skills and improving your confidence.
Sessions are normally held on the first Friday of each calendar month. Some variation in dates may be necessary, but these will be announced during Club sessions and on our associated Facebook page.
Teach-ins are held on a rolling programme, please check the downloadable Programme for dates and topics.
School-leavers are required to develop a personal statement, much like a first CV, when they have had little or no chance to gain relevant skills. This is where our layout projects give an opportunity for younger members to gain a wide range of work-related transferable skills through participation in a multi-skilled hobby.
